Connecting to Community
As community supervision terms get shorter, it is becoming more important to connect people on supervision to community members who can help support them moving forward. Decades of research have shown that having positive connections to people in the community is essential to reintegrating into society successfully. Historically, community supervision has limited its contact with community members primarily to gathering intelligence about noncompliant behavior, but here we consider supporting people on supervision by helping them connect to positive community members. To do this, we have to consider developing ways to identify and connect people on supervision to positive people in their community.
