Vermont Women's Mentoring Program

The VT Women's Mentoring Program matches criminal justice-involved women with volunteer women mentors to assist the reentry process both pre-release and post-release. Prospective mentors are trained 3 times a year for 5 weeks. Mentees and mentors meet monthly and for a minimum of one year after match, attend pro-social activities together and receive continuous support and continuing education from program staff. Mentors attend monthly mentor support group meetings.

Program Population: 

Women who are incarcerated, in community under D.O.C. supervision, participants in pre-trial services and other.

Program Capacity: 

We match a minimum of 25 pairs of women each year

Program Funding Source: 

One state contract with the D.O.C. and private funders
