Nick: Why, from your perspective, why should the jurisdiction create one of these programs? What is the benefit? Ryan: The benefits are endless. First and foremost, I believe that it's our duty to do everything we can to help those that have served our country. And just because an individual gets themselves in a situation where they get incarcerated does not mean that us as a society should turn our backs on those that served our country in many of which had fought for our freedom, just because they might have made a mistake or because whenever they got out, they weren't able to adjust. They didn't have the support. They didn't know what their support services were. They didn't seek the treatment for post traumatic stress or any other mental health or substance abuse disorders and that happens. And the way I view it is not only should we offer that assistance, that guidance, those services to our incarcerated veterans but I think that should be a priority. And I think it's extremely rewarding whenever you do provide those services, whenever you do provide the support for new veterans who previously didn't have that support and those services. And you prepare them for successful re-entry back into society. That's the reward.
